The Power of Encouragement

Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. -Hebrews 3:13

As I eagerly opened the envelope, the mystery of its contents filled me with excitement. There's something magical about receiving unexpected gifts, especially when they're accompanied by the promise of encouragement. My dear friend, knowing the stress I was facing, had sent me a beautiful note filled with kind and thoughtful words that resonated deeply during this challenging season. And as if that weren't enough, a gift card to my favorite coffee shop was tucked inside!

Encouragement is a potent antidote to weariness, and it's no coincidence that the Bible repeatedly urges us to uplift one another. Hebrews 3:13 beautifully instructs us to encourage one another daily. Why daily? Because each day brings its own set of trials and tribulations, and we all need a dose of encouragement to face them. This isn't a mere coincidence; it's a divine design.

Biblical encouragement is unique—it's a force that's meant to lead others closer to the Lord. A poignant example lies in the Old Testament friendship of Jonathan and David. Jonathan didn't just offer encouragement; he strengthened David, helping him find solace and strength in God (1 Samuel 23:16).

True biblical encouragement is more than just kind words; it's a manifestation of love, a display of gratitude, and a gentle reminder of God's unwavering promises. It's a source of faith that empowers others to persevere through challenging seasons. Whether conveyed through a handwritten note, a heartfelt conversation over coffee, a quick text, or a thoughtful card, encouragement has the incredible ability to fill the heart of a friend who may be running on empty.

When was the last time you extended encouragement to someone? Have you taken a moment to send a text, write a note, or express your gratitude to a fellow mom? Don't let another day slip away—today, right now, let someone know you're thinking of her and how deeply grateful you are for her presence in your life.

Dear Heavenly Father, I am grateful for the precious gift of friendship—a reflection of Your love in my life. Today, guide me to discern those among my friends who may be in need of encouragement. Open my eyes to see those who are running on empty, feeling discouraged, or experiencing loneliness.

Lord, use me as an instrument of Your grace. May my words become a simple yet powerful source of strength and joy for those traversing challenging seasons. Let the warmth of friendship and the encouragement I extend be a beacon of Your love, leading them closer to You.

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
